The CT Open Data Portal makes data from state agencies publicly available in machine-readable format to increase government transparency, drive efficiencies, and spark innovation. This page highlights information about assets published on the Open Data Portal, including the types of assets and the number of views and downloads of data on the Portal.

This is a list of sites from the “SASU (Site Assessment and Support Unit) Case Management” System, which is also known as the LUST Database. Sites on this list include, but are not limited to: sites with known releases from regulated Underground Storage Tank (UST) systems, sites with releases from non-regulated UST system sources, releases from non-UST related sources, sites with potential releases for which impacts or sources of release were not confirmed at time of entry into the system.

The “SASU Case Management” system was initially developed in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s to track sites that the Site Assessment and Support Unit (SASU) worked on. At the time SASU contained the LUST Program. Overtime the “SASU Case Management” System evolved to primarily track releases from regulated Leaking Underground Storage Tanks (LUST) and is currently maintained by the DEEP’s Corrective Action Unit (CAU).

This dataset does not replace a full review of other environmental datasets available through CT Open Data, HazConnect (https://connecticut.hazconnect.com/listincidentpublic.aspx), files publicly available either using the DEEP on-line Public Portal (https://filings.deep.ct.gov/DEEPDocumentSearchPortal/) and/or at the DEEP Record Center File Room (https://portal.ct.gov/DEEP/About/Environmental-Quality-Records-Records-Center-File-Room).

We know there may be errors in the data although we strive to minimize them. Examples of errors may include: misspelled or incomplete addresses and/or missing data.

A separate dataset ( https://data.ct.gov/Environment-and-Natural-Resources/List-of-Contaminated-or-Potentially-Contaminated-S/u76p-weqj/data ) is also published for: List of Contaminated or Potentially Contaminated Sites - Remediation Division. The two database systems are maintained by different Divisions within the agency. There may be sites in both databases due to an overlap in responsibilities of the two Divisions.

COVID-19 Cases, Deaths, and Tests by Day

The COVID-19 Data Report is posted on the Open Data Portal every day at 3pm. The report uses data from multiple sources, including external partners; if data from external partners are not received by 3pm, they are not available for inclusion in the report and will not be displayed. Data that are received after 3pm will still be incorporated and published in the next report update.

This data set contains preliminary weekly retail sales data for cannabis and cannabis products in both the adult-use cannabis and medical marijuana markets. The data reported is compiled at specific points in time and only captures data current at the time the report is generated. The weekly data set captures retail cannabis sales from Sunday through Saturday of the week. Weeks spanning across two different months only include days within the same month. Data values may be updated and change over time as updates occur. Accordingly, weekly reported data may not exactly match annually reported data.

The COVID-19 Cases, Deaths, and Tests by Day dataset contains cases and test data by date of sample submission. The death data are by date of death. This dataset is updated daily and contains information back to the beginning of the pandemic. The COVID-19 State Metrics dataset contains over 93 columns of data. This dataset is updated daily and currently contains information starting June 21, 2022 to the present. The data can be found at https://data.ct.gov/Health-and-Human-Services/COVID-19-State-Level-Data/qmgw-5kp6 .

The COVID-19 County Metrics dataset contains 25 columns of data. This dataset is updated daily and currently contains information starting June 16, 2022 to the present. The data can be found at https://data.ct.gov/Health-and-Human-Services/COVID-19-County-Level-Data/ujiq-dy22 .

The COVID-19 Town Metrics dataset contains 16 columns of data. This dataset is updated daily and currently contains information starting June 16, 2022 to the present. The data can be found at https://data.ct.gov/Health-and-Human-Services/COVID-19-Town-Level-Data/icxw-cada . To protect confidentiality, if a town has fewer than 5 cases or positive NAAT tests over the past 7 days, those data will be suppressed.

Count of COVID-19-associated deaths by date of death. Deaths reported to either the OCME or DPH are included in the COVID-19 data. COVID-19-associated deaths include persons who tested positive for COVID-19 around the time of death and persons who were not tested for COVID-19 whose death certificate lists COVID-19 disease as a cause of death or a significant condition contributing to death.

Data on Connecticut deaths were obtained from the Connecticut Deaths Registry maintained by the DPH Office of Vital Records. Cause of death was determined by a death certifier (e.g., physician, APRN, medical examiner) using their best clinical judgment. Additionally, all COVID-19 deaths, including suspected or related, are required to be reported to OCME. On April 4, 2020, CT DPH and OCME released a joint memo to providers and facilities within Connecticut providing guidelines for certifying deaths due to COVID-19 that were consistent with the CDC’s guidelines and a reminder of the required reporting to OCME.25,26 As of July 1, 2021, OCME had reviewed every case reported and performed additional investigation on about one-third of reported deaths to better ascertain if COVID-19 did or did not cause or contribute to the death. Some of these investigations resulted in the OCME performing postmortem swabs for PCR testing on individuals whose deaths were suspected to be due to COVID-19, but antemortem diagnosis was unable to be made.31 The OCME issued or re-issued about 10% of COVID-19 death certificates and, when appropriate, removed COVID-19 from the death certificate. For standardization and tabulation of mortality statistics, written cause of death statements made by the certifiers on death certificates are sent to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) at the CDC which assigns cause of death codes according to the International Causes of Disease 10th Revision (ICD-10) classification system.25,26 COVID-19 deaths in this report are defined as those for which the death certificate has an ICD-10 code of U07.1 as either a primary (underlying) or a contributing cause of death. Note the counts in this dataset may vary from the death counts in the other COVID-19-related datasets published on data.ct.gov, where deaths are counted on the date reported rather than the date of death

The 2015 to 2040 population projections for towns in the state of Connecticut were developed by the Connecticut State Data Center for planning, analysis, and to inform decision making. The projections are individual population projections for the resident population of each of Connecticut's 169 towns and were published on August 31, 2017. These projections supersede the 2012 edition of the population projections developed by the Connecticut State Data Center.

This dataset contains the official listing of all public educational organizations in Connecticut as of April 1, 2020. Data elements include district name, school name, organization type, organization code, address, open date, interdistrict magnet status and grades offered.

Included data are collected by the CT State Department of Education (CSDE) through the Directory Manager (DM) portal in accordance with Connecticut General Statute (C.G.S.) 10-4. This critical information is used by other data collection systems and for state and federal reporting.
